About The Band
Ten Feet Tall are a 5 piece rock & pop covers band.
We were formed in 2001 and have all previously played in other bands. We have lots of experience and have varying musical backgrounds, all of which makes our songs rock.
Our set list contains a wide range of songs from the '60s to the present day, so we can tailor our set for the type of event.
Artists we cover include The Jam, Dire Straits, Rolling Stones, The Hollies, Free, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, The Beatles, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, Stereophonics, Travis, The Who, Dandy Warhols, Kings Of Leon, The Searchers, Rod Stewart, Oasis and T-Rex.
Lots of variety and something for everyone!
We consider ourselves to be a pub band but we have been known to do working men's clubs. We also play weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and corporate events. We have even played on the back of a lorry!
The band line-up comprises male lead vocals, lead, rhythm and bass guitars and drums.
History
Ten Feet Tall came together in July 2001. Following the break up of popular Leeds-based band Trocadero in the summer of 2000, Paul and Rik were looking to form a new band. This coincided with Noel leaving Rakish Paddy. Following a recommendation, Steve was invited to join the band and the first rehearsal was done without a singer. Steve worked with Martyn and knew he could sing, so Martyn was invited to the next practice and Ten Feet Tall were formed.
After 10 months rehearsing, we did our first gig as "Somethin' Else" on 6th April 2002 for a 50th birthday. The venue was packed and we went down a storm. The next few gigs were also performed as "Somethin' Else", until someone went to see a band called "Somethin' Else" in Pudsey, Leeds, thinking it was us but it was a totally different band!
We then did a couple of gigs as "Somethin' Else AKA" until we decided upon "Ten Feet Tall", so named after the song by XTC.
We are now an established band and gig all over West Yorkshire. Check out the Gig List to see where we have played. We travelled as far as Derbyshire in September 2005 for a wedding. It's fair to say we will gig anywhere if the money's right!
In November 2005, we recorded a demo CD at Pravda Studios in Leeds. The Kaiser Chiefs have record here in the recent past.
